More on the Bryant Tragedy
by Farkel inhere are some excerpts from todays oregonian regarding the bryant family tragedy.
on the night of his 17th wedding anniversary, robert bryant pulled a $100 bill from his wallet and bought a box of 12-gauge turkey shot, officials said monday.. sometime that feb 23rd evening, the bryant family went to bed.
later, robert bryant got up, loaded two shotguns and shot each of his four children at close range.

What should I do?
by Shimmer ini just got a call from a very sweet sister from the kingdom hall, telling me that i am her householder for her talk tomorrow night.
i have not been to a meeting since november.
i have managed to avoid elder's calls.

Is there any chance that you could go and be her householder? Act like nothing is wrong?
When I faded I became erratic and actually faded over a period of several years. They got used to my being absent frequently and I thought it made fading less noticeable. Finally I became very irregular and then moved away. No one tried to follow me with any letter or phone call to my new community. By then they had pretty much forgotten me.

Defeating The Watchtower - What Does This Mean?
by hillary_step ini actually wrote this post in response to a poster recently dealing with the 'defeating' of the wts.. i have started a new topic with the post as i would like to hear opinions of what xjw's and others view as a 'defeated' watchtower.. "i am not quite sure what we all want from the wts.
what does a person mean by 'defeating' the watchtower?.
destroying it, selling its buildings, giving the cash back to the people who bought them?

Hillary, I think the over-all problem was well stated some time ago by Alan F. The central doctrine of JWs is that “the GB speaks for God.”
Real defeat, it seems to me, will come when the halos of the GB are markedly tarnished; when the R & F JW realizes that the GB does not speak for God. Getting to this point is very difficult.
Everything else will fall into place once that fact is realized by a significant number of JWs.

he was divorced and disfellowshipped within the last eight years or so.

Does anyone here know the status of Neil Baker? He was a JW pillar in Midland, Texas for many years, then about 12 years ago he lost a lot of weight (folks thought he was ill), left his wife, left the JWs and his position as an elder. Never heard from again, as far as I know. I suspect that he was Df’d
If I had to got involved with a JW elder, Neil Baker was about the only one I would have been willing to deal with.

by Sam Beli ina few minutes ago, during a live press conference, president bush was asked if he thought cardinal law was acting swiftly enough to correct the problems in the catholic church.. bushs answer was that he thought the church would clean-up the problems.
he said that he has confidence in the cardinal.

for several reasons i don't want to give a lot of details, but all i can say is that things are still on course.
even the producer does not have an air date at this time, but i would discount most of the rumors we're hearing.

Has O’Reilly ever discussed a religion? I think he has addressed the Priest issue some; is that correct? Hmmm. He wants to keep his large audience; maybe JWs are too small a group. Maybe they think that such a subject would give too many viewers a break to go to the refrigerator?
